What Stress Can Do To Your Hair

stress turning hair gray

A recent Harvard study says that stress can cause hair to turn gray. This is because of a chemical that is released by nerves when a body goes into the so-called “fight-or-flight” mode.

Stress can also cause a lot of damage to our hair, making it easier to break and easier to fall out. The most common type is when hair stops growing and lies dormant for a number of months until it falls out. A more severe type is when stress causes white blood cells to attack hair follicles which results in hair falling out in a matter of weeks, usually in patches, but also involving the entire scalp and even body hair.
