The Movember Foundation was started close to 20 years ago with the goal of raising awareness to men\u2019s health issues by not shaving for the month of November. The thinking is that people would be asked about their new facial hair and it would spark conversation about some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.<\/p>\n

It began with 30 mustaches in Australia and has grown to five million worldwide, along with fundraising events that have gone to more than 1,200 projects saving and improving the lives of men all around the planet<\/a>. The foundation is a top nongovernmental funder of prostate and testicular cancer research. By 2030 they expect to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%, help cut prostate cancer deaths by 50%, and reduce male suicides by 25%.<\/p>\n

To participate, it is as easy as simply not shaving for the month<\/a> and telling people why you\u2019re doing it. People can donate<\/a> to your efforts and\/or you can donate the money you would have spent on shaving for the month; the funds will go to fight cancer. You can also donate to other participants or host a fundraising event<\/a>.<\/p>\n
